The Indoor Enduro is a discipline in the World of motorcycling which came into being in 2000. It was created by RPM Racing, a company which manages and organizes sports competitions. After seeing the enormous success the first competition enjoyed, which was organized as a complement to the Barcelona Trial Indoor, RPM decided that this new competition was worth being developed as a unique event. After some years as the only trial in Indoor Enduro in the world, some other organizations decided to program events with these same characteristics in other cities, both in Europe and in the United States. In 2008 the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) decided to create the FIM Indoor Enduro World Cup, known nowadays as FIM Indoor Enduro World Championship.
In July 2008 the FIM chose RPM Racing to be World Cup Promoter. Contrary to the Enduro competitions which are fought for individually, in the Indoor Enduro the drivers compete against each other, in the style of Supercross, competing in classifying and recovery laps, with the best drivers then reaching the finals.
The Indoor Enduro circuits are constructed in the interior of a closed sports hall or stadium and reproduce most of the natural obstacles which are found in an Enduro test. Earth, sand, tree trunks, rocks and fords are the main elements in an Enduro Indoor event.
The public, comfortably seated in the stands, can follow the drivers´ progress around the whole circuit in which the difficulty of the route and the possibility of driver error guarantees excitement until the last lap.
This discipline is defined by its difficulty and the techniques necessary to win it. The fords, tree trunks and stones make agility and ability essential qualities to win. Aptitude, skill, balance are the words which define the word “Endurance”.
The competition demonstrated that nothing is impossible, that a confined circuit concentrates emotions, excitement, anticipation and delight. The number of spectators has increased year after year, as has the interest of motorcycle makers and drivers, and the expectations are higher and higher.
In each event of the FIM Indoor Enduro World Championship there are three finals where each score counts towards the general classification in the Championship. |
